Is there a reasonable way to check for the list being down (or
otherwise not sending mail for some reason---obviously not from lack
of traffic, in the case of DJGPP :-), as opposed to one being somehow
dropped from the list (which has happened to a few people over the
last few months)? I have in mind something like checking the date on
the archive in sun.soe.clarkson.edu:/pub/msdos/djgpp. The only
alternative seems to be sending "testing 1, 2, 3" messages.
