Subject: hard drive partition information lost

> Has anyone observed djgpp affecting partition information on a hard drive?

No, but I had a similar accident with another DOS extender.

> FDISK indicated that there was no valid partition information so the drive

There's a good chance that a disk utility program such as the Norton Utilities
could have reconstructed the disk without reformatting. There's an even
better chance of recovering if you make a "rescue disk" before things go
wrong. In Norton,
   disktool /saverescue
records the partition tables, boot records and CMOS values on a floppy.
