Probably easier than hacking up the EXE file would be to boot from
floppy with DOS v5.0 and run EXE2BIN.  I have mixed versions of 
EXE2BIN without ill effect but I have not yet upgraded(?) to DOS 6.0.
Perhaps earlier versions were more forgiving...
