Have you tried setver?


Add the following line to config.sys and reboot:

device=c:\dos\setver.exe

(change drive:path as appropriate for your system)


then type

setver exe2bin.exe 5.00

to add exe2bin to setver's table


This will tell whatever dos version you are running to report version 
5.00 to exe2bin.exe. If there are in fact no REAL reasons (other than 
the version check itself) why the program will not run then this should 
work.
