Sorry, this is probably something I should figure out on my own,
but...

I know that this is a recently frequently discussed topic, but I've
been busy and didn't follow the thread well.  I have a 486 with 8 MB
RAM and an 8 MB permanent swap file under Windows.  When I try to run
demacs in a DOS window, I get the error:

DPMI: Not enough memory (0x00450000 bytes)  (as I recall)

My understanding is that GO32 requires a larger chunk of memory (5MB?)
to run under DPMI.  I have tried allocating both EMS and XMS chunks of
6MB for the DOS window in the .pif file.  I've also tried specifying
0MB of EMS and XMS memory.

What pool of memory do DPMI requests serve from?

Does GO32 still perform vitual memory mangement for the A.OUT program?

How do I get DEMACS to run?

Has anyone considered making a Windows .EXE style GO32?
