I have the same problem: as I (better, the program...) swithc
to graphics the palette changes so that screen blanks. I can 
always kill the program with ctrl-c. I haven't noticed other
problems with this new release. My machine is a 386sz clone
at 16Mhz, AMI bios, NeAT chipset, DOS 6 and UMB_DRVR 5.22
