I've been writing a disk cataloging program as well, but have caught up on
a snag lately. How do I detect write protection on a disk without hurting
it? I can use INT 25 & 26 to do a read/write and detect if it is write
protected, but if it is a 360K disk in a 1.2M drive, bye-bye 360K disk.
Any suggestions? I've posed this question to Andrew Schulman, one of the
foremost DOS experts, but he was stumped as well.

BTW, I realize this isn't djgpp material in any way shape or form. Sorry!
