GCC16 exists soley as a convenience - as you indicate, it adds no
functionality.  It *is* faster than GCC (the standard 32 bit compiler
driver); since it runs in real mode, it does not need to open the page
file, etc, to run the other pieces of the compiler.

I think of it as being sort of like a batch file, whereas GCC.EXE is a
full blown 32 bit .EXE (with all the attendant overheard)

Why would you want to do that?  Why not just use EMX?

Oh, I get it.  The point of DPMI support is to run DJGPP under Windoze.
