I'm looking at merging the function of the 2.03 and 2.04 symlink()
routines.
As a first approx, embed the 2.04 symlink() routine, renamed to
softlink(), into the 2.03 symlink() module, and call softlink() where
the 2.03 symlink() returns EXDEV.
I've not yet looked at the other ramifications of doing that, or other
requirements of using the 2.04 symlinks.
At first glance, solve_symlinks() will have to be called early on in
the old 2.03 symlink() routine to find out whether the from and to
directories are the same.
Does that seem useful and feasible?
