They are non-functional.  Trying to use gunzip, for example,
results in the message:
'gunzip' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Since linking files with an exe extention results in copying
the file to the new name I suggested that one should check for
stubs before ereasing a pre-existing file.  One would want to
erase a copy to replace it with the new version.  And don't
try to link without the extention.
