Please forward to djgpp workers, since the university header-adder seems
to be in conflict with DJ's filters...

I would suggest a deadline for CVS check-ins, a build, and an announced
beta.  If no problems just rename the beta to final release.

I don't think it's a good idea to go from "alpha" to release with no
testing.

Many people don't try "alpha" releases.  It has also been a long time
since any announcement, so people are either using it without problems, 
had problems and are waiting for the next release, or just never tried it.

A clear beta announcement, which says that this will be the next 2.04
unless problems are found, will cause lots of people to test it.
