Perhaps I'm confused but if you want to build with LFNs you should
extract with LFNs. (If you've switched off "numerical tail" this
extraction should be able to build without LFNs.)

Extracting without LFNs and then trying to build with LFNs won't ever
work (unless the source is 8.3 complaint).
