In my experience, they usually are accepted, at least most of them.

For those cases where the maintainers won't rename some files, you could 
add a filename-mapping file that should be submitted to djtar using the 
-n option, to make the renaming automatic.  I doubt that any maintainer 
would object to add a single file.
