They were discussed on the gdb-list and not applied. Since the main
problem with it was the integration in RHIDE I solved the problem now
for the coming RHIDE version in an other way.

With this patch I agree and would ask you to commit it (I append it to this
mail again as a single patch).

In my fist patch I made this variable global, then someone from the
gdb-maintainer changed it to be static. Since the only problem with
it is also RHIDE and I solved it already in an other way, this patch is
not needed.
