For the record: I also cannot reproduce this, neither in DOS 5.0 nor in 
Windows 95.

Michel, could you disassemble the original djtar.exe (the one which does
crash) near the EIP where it dies, and try to understand where does that
happen using the version you compiled as a first approximation?  I
understand that the code might be somewhat different, but I don't think
the offset should be too large, so you could probably find the place in
the sources, albeit not too easily.
