Yes.  I presume patches would only be helpful if they are against the
current snapshot.  Also I thought it wasn't good enough to do this
under windows95 according to what Eli said before.  When I tried, it
was in native DOS under dosemu.

Yes, and it also sounds as though patches are needed for mainline GCC,
at least to eliminate the .bat files and documentation of them.  egcs
inherits this.
