And what about changing the whole thing and make the djgpp directory 
match the Unix / ? ;-) (Half joke - half question)

IMHO we must choose between UNIX style and some hacked stuff, using a 
hack we'll have troubles from time to time. I don't see a clear 
solution but you can't spect a final solution if you use a hack.

I think the idea of replacing /usr/... by the djgpp specific 
directories is a good solution, even when (as Eli points) it could be 
far from perfect.
