Btw, as long as we speak about memmove, I think it would be a good idea 
to have it test the source and destination for equality and return 
immediately if they compare equal.  This would make memmove *infinitely* 
faster than the current version ;-).

(I didn't yet look at the current alpha, so please excuse me if this 
optimization is already there.)
