IMHO, it has only one main goal: it must be simple and as fool-proof
as it gets (although fools are so ingenious sometimes ;-).

If the existing sources come anywhere near this goal, I would suggest
to release the installer and then decide on how to improve it based on
user response, since people who read this list are usually not best
suited to understand newbies' needs.

IMHO it's better to have initial version up and running than to waste
time discussing its philosophy.
