Subject: djgpp alpha 980628

I apologize for the delay since the last alpha, but things have been
happening that have distracted me from djgpp for a while. I've moved
my djgpp development environment onto the machine with my mail and ftp
on them, which should greatly improve my efficiency. This also means
that the official djgpp will be completely cross-built, so please take
care to check those things that might be affected by this.

The latest djgpp alpha is in the v2/alphas/980628 directory (or will
be soon). It is about 8% larger than the previous alpha, and includes
pretty much all the patches I've collected in the last six months.
Notable exclusions: the djtar bug, since I can't figure out if we
decided on one solution (heck, I'm not sure we ever found out what the
root problem was), the fsext dup* functions, since I think they'll
bite anyone who tries to use them, and some optimizations that I'm not
convinced are as safe as the unoptimized variants.

Please compare this alpha with any known patches you expected to be in
there, and make sure I'm not missing any. Please resubmit any that
are missing that should be in 2.02. At this point, I'd like to
restrict changes to safe bug fixes only - no new functionality or
optimizations. After we get 2.02 released, we can consider those
again.

Thanks,
DJ
