Subject: Re: Support for "//d/foo" pathnames

   Is it a good idea to include support for the above in v2.02's putpath (to
   be converted to "d:/foo")?

Sounds simple and good to me.

   An obvious disadvantage is that a UNC like \\server\foo might
   get in the way (especially if ``server'' is a single letter).

How about

   //server/foo    UNC
   \\server\foo    UNC
   \\d\foo         UNC
   //d/foo         drive

or will that surprise someone?

Morten
