I guess I should be thankful that we've finally moved into the territory
of my original email message.  Apparently we've moved beyond pointing
out obvious facts like the existence of environment variables, the evils
of writing to windows\system, how to make simple modifications to C
programs, how we should use "/dev", and how we should use "/boot".

The problem of /cygdrive being settable is not unsurmountable if you
consider how I want to use this functionality.  I'm not going to go into
details since I don't want to generate another twenty messages of
misconceptions.

So, I've gotten all the feedback that I can use on this.
