So far I haven't received any feedback on the patch. I would like to hold
off on having the patch incorporated into the mainline sources until there
is some feedback on how well it goes.

I suspect that having binaries available would encourage people to try out
the changes. Of course any bash binary should probably include the changes
Chris posted recently.

Unfortunately I don't have a public ftp area that I can put the binaries
on. Any takers?
