My rhide version clearly say 1.4, built September 30.

So I would just guess you have not overwritten an older
version, or you have another older version first in your path.
The latter frequently happens when you have a version on the net
and another one local. At least it happens to me ;-)

Try calling it with
/explicit/path/to/rhide/rhide

and see what happens.
