I read the FAQ and saw one question that looks like the same as mine, but I meet the requirements of the answer. Previously, I had libc5.4.44 installed, but I updated libc to 46 after reading the FAQ (even though 44 was sufficient). I've also tried the egcs compiler without the pentium patch, and I've tried a variety of other gnu compilers, all with the same failed results. I've tried compiling them myself and using precompiled, but the only version that works is the one that came with my linux distribution. I'd appreciate any ideas or suggestions. My system: Pentium 200 linux (slakware) kernel = 2.0.29 libc version = libc-5.4.46 latest version of pgcc Thanks, Jeremy Lazarus
