The origin is the "0,0" point that all the other parts of the footprint are referenced to, so it's actually hard to change the footprint file directly. You can move a footpring in pcb itself by pasting the footprint into a blank layout, selecting it, and cutting it (the position of the cursor when you cut is the "mark" for the footprint), and "save buffer elements to file".
