When I switched to geda I had to develop quite a bunch of tedious workarounds to get things done which protel95 had offered me at the tip of my fingers. > Which option would waste time? Modern screen tend to be wide but a little short in height. BTW, if it is not going to scale on the fly like a dock and it does not use a docking library, we might as well not call it a dock. "Dialog area" sounds more appropriate to me. > Then, provide a single button with a gear icon. > Pressing this button opens up a pop up menu with all the checkboxes > and radio buttons. No new pop-ups, please! Also, please no checkbox collections tucked away at some non-obvious places in the GUI. This was one of the less than optimum features of protel95. I spent hours searching for the checkbox page that I knew was somewhere. There are two dialogs which need quite a bit of space -- the symbol chooser and the attribute editor. So the find&replace dialog would have ample space to include a few checkbox options. ---<)kaimartin(>---
