Back then I tried every lead I could find to get me a windows version=20
of contemporary geda.

    net of dependencies.

* automatic cross compile script for guile by Mads Elvheim

  =E2=86=92 The script needed a little tweak to check out the correct tag
    but then it actually produced a guile.exe . Next step
    would have been to somehow pass this binary to either MXE or=20
    minipack. Unfortunately, I did not to have the time to poke and
    explore how to go from there.

In the end found myself cheating: Set up a linux desktop with geda tools
running natively and had my windows users use x2go to access a dedicated
xsession. https://wiki.x2go.org

The absence of an installable windows version certainly contributed to
most of my users switch to kicad or even eagle. (This is a university
setting. PhDs have a bit of leeway to decide which tools to use.)
