I also got board manufactured with an outline. It is a little bit hard to make a cut out then there is nothing to cut from for the holes this is solved with a separate drill file but for others? Sometimes there is a need for a slit or cut out even though discussion is a little bit theorecitcal for me since I never ordered boards drawn by pcb/gpcb with a slit or cut out but I expect to do sooner or later. To make a cut out in board layer(s) and let gerber exporter solve the format details seems like the most general approach. Even though for simple shape like a drilled hole which is basically equal to a circular cut out in board layer it make no difference. For more complex shapes I however expect a more general approach would be good. Nicklas Karlsson
