I'm looking to get the type of light switches that are = in the cord of a light and you roll the wheel with your thumb. I = checked digikey (thumb switches among others) and can't find = them.

It's the wheel variety of the "inline cord = switch". More a hardware store item than electronics. Put "inline cord = wheel switch" into your favorite search engine, you'll find lots of = vendors.
