In the first case you're out of luck for obvious reasons. In the latter case, one possible reason is a version mismatch of the PCB applications used. Anyways, as the file format is plain text, you can open a new layout and copy the important portions over with a text editor. Or run PCB from the command line, it should report about syntax errors, so you can take out just this faulty element. HTH, Markus - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dipl. Ing.
