When I looked at it, it would be a considerable effort to support the changes in the scheme files. The best option looks like to wait until gEDA gets the new configuration manager, then update GParts. Another option includes linking libgeda and using it to parse the configuration files. Right now, I'm hoping the new configuration manager gets implemented.
