Check the task list for NTVDM.EXE - kill them all. Try a minimal setup - just set DJGPP and PATH, nothing else (no prompt, nothing else) and see if it sticks. Try it under CMD. (I use CMD.EXE exclusively). Check your CONFIG.NT for things which might cause flakey stuff.
