It looks like a circular stuff so let me put my point clear: A) What is OK for me (personally) : 1) Info files with UNIX end of lines. Why? Size and speed when reading the files (no \r\n convertion, no fails when using seek). 2) Man pages in original format (backspaces included). B) What is bullet proof and perhaps the most robust: 1) Info files in DOS format. Why? because any DOS editor will be able to load and show a readable text. 2) Man pages is plain text. Why? same reason as above. You lose the some pretty highlighting? ok, include both. What I don't understand is why the current distribution uses B-1 + A-2. Looks bad. I preffer A by far because I get the best results with it.
