It looks like that program reached its end and exit. Are you trying to use some Window Manager ? Any .startxwinrc on you $HOME diretory ? If you run directly XWin , what's happen ? Jon, the X package maintainer, probably will have better debugging ideas. One thing I noticed is that you installed almost all available packages. $ grep "OK$" cygcheck.out | wc -l 7554 Any reason for that ? https://cygwin.com/faq.html#faq.setup.everything The golden rule should be "install only what you need"; the system will be lighter as space and responsivness and there are less risk of something going wrong. Just to give you a reference I have only 2632 packages installed and I am one of the main packagers as number of packages to take care of.
