These libraries are built around a well specified code representation known as the LLVM intermediate representation. Clang is an LLVM native C/C++/ObjC compiler, which aims to deliver amazingly fast compiles, extremely useful error and warning messages and to provide a platform for building great source level tools. compiler-rt provides a simple library that provides an implementation of the low-level target-specific hooks required by code generation and other runtime components. libc++ is a new implementation of the C++ standard library, targeting C++11. This is an update to the latest upstream stable release of the LLVM/Clang toolchain, with several improvements for Cygwin: * Clang has been modified to properly link with ld on Cygwin, bypassing GCC executables entirely while matching its behaviour. GCC's libraries and startup files are still required. * compiler-rt is now available as an experimental alternative to libgcc's builtins implementation; it can be used with clang -rtlib=compiler-rt. Please note that libgcc_s (or libgcc_eh with -static) will still be used for exception handling support. * libc++/libc++abi are now available as an experimental alternative to libstdc++; it can be used with clang++ -stdlib=libc++. * Clang's unwind.h has been fixed for SEH. * The OCaml bindings for LLVM have been re-enabled, with new dependencies. They have not been tested. * Unfortunately, lld could not be added at this time due to lack of GNU-style command-line support in its COFF driver. It appears that may be changing for 6.0. -- Yaakov -- Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/ Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple
