There is a special header which is supposed to be used within XWin sources to prevent these problems, but one file wasn't using it. Both gcc3 and gcc4 therefore saw "DWORD Status;" as "unsigned long int;", but only gcc4 is strict enough to not allow it. Thanks for the help, and sorry for the noise.
