I am that way.

However, your patch should be clean in terms of OS handling.

I recommend using the already used construct:

#ifdef HAVE_CYGWIN
  if (! is_winnt)
    {
      ...your w9x specific code...
    }
#endif


The definition of is_winnt is used eg. in `cygwin_utils.c':

#define is_winnt       (GetVersion() < 0x80000000)
