Basically, it creates a mess in your root directory. Older versions of cygwin created a single subdirectory off wherever you specified, and if users expected that with the latest version, they'd be in for a rude surprise. So, we warn them against it. You can still use the root of your disk for the install simply by saying "yes" to the warning notice, which asks you "Proceed anyway?" -- Want to unsubscribe from this list?
