However, since Magic 6.x an X11 application, you need to install the X client libraries from http://dao.gsfc.nasa.gov/software/grads/X11R6.4/. Since the developers of magic have used the ':' character in many of the filenames, you'll need to do quite a bit of work on a non-Windows system, renaming all those files to avoid that illegal character.
