I tried it and you can see the result: bash$ date Sat Nov 1 20:51:31 GMT--1:00 1997 bash$ date 1111121297 date: cannot set date: Not owner Tue Nov 11 13:12:00 GMT--1:00 1997 bash$ date Sat Nov 1 20:52:07 GMT--1:00 1997 bash$ date echoes the new time but it wonŽt be set.
