It provides a UNIX Simulation over Windows NT/95. It is called UWIN. It is actively worked upon by David Korn (AT&T Research) since the past 2 years and has now reached a level of matuarity. You should be able to compile most of the POSIX compliant programs on UWIN and they will work as native NT applications. It provides a stable UNIX environment over Windows. It also comes with a Telnet Server. Currently, it also supports Rsh. Rlogin will be supported shortly. It also has setuid() support. You can check it out at http://www.research.att.com/sw/tools/uwin/ David Korn can be reached at "dgk AT research DOT att DOT com" Regards, Nilendu. _______________________________________ Nilendu Pal Wipro Infotech, Global R&D, 30, Mission Road, S R Nagar, Bangalore Tel: +91-80-2241730 Ext: 3304 Fax: +91-80-2241769 mailto:nilendu AT wipinfo DOT soft DOT net http://www.pobox.com/~nilendu _______________________________________ - For help on using this list (especially unsubscribing), send a message to "gnu-win32-request AT cygnus DOT com" with one line of text: "help".
