#1 Use the resources at your fingertips to see what is already in
progress. A quick search of this mailing list archive or via google
would have uncovered both your requests, and the fact that #2 is done
and in testing (would you like to test it?) and #1 is pretty much also
done as part of #2 in that new packages will default to do not install,
rather than install everything.

#2 This is open source, if something doesn't do what you want it to do,
you can make a difference by _helping_ it get there.
