Try changing you shortcut to rxvt (or whatever way you start rxvt): add the 
option
         -tn rxvt

For example: my shortcut has as a target
         D:\cygwin\bin\rxvt.exe -bg FloralWhite -fg black -cr orange -fn 
"Lucida Sans Typewriter-13" -fb "Lucida Sans Typewriter Bold-13" -sr -sl 
5000 -g 80x40 -tn rxvt -e /usr/local/bin/zsh -l -i
