Sadly, your expectations of my knowing anything about Oracle8i are
not in line with reality.  I don't know anything whatsoever about it.

However, if you are having problems with Oracle it does make sense
to continue to ask them questions about it.  If you are having such
basic problems it is doubtful that someone from a site which has
no contact with Oracle whatsoever will be able to help.
