Hi Robert,

i got the same problems with perl 5.7, so it depends not to that special perl-version.

Maybe it is a problem with cygwin, since perl manuals tell us, that there should be an
inplace substitution.

Also possible is a bug in perl, don't know if this helps, but i found only this at 
perl.com:
