Hallo,

perhaps your problem with linking against msname.lib can be resolved
along the lines of the following procedure:

        echo "EXPORTS" > msname.def;

        nm --demangle --defined-only MSNAME.lib \
        |sed -n 's/^.* T //p' >> msname.def

        dlltool --dllname MSNAME.DLL --def msname.def \
        --output-lib libmsname.a

If nm won't work and gives you something like:

        nm: MSNAME.LIB: File format not recognized

it could be that you are working with a library from MSVC 6. Then I
would suggest to convert the lib to 5.* by

	cp msname.lib /somewhere
	cd /somewhere
	lib /convert msname.lib

at first. Doing so will keep the v6 lib, but most probably it wouldn't
do any harm just to convert it right in the original place.

Hope this helps,

Alexander.
