Does the Cygnus development staff have any plans to address this?

By perusing the source, this appears to be localized in dirsearch.cc,
path.cc, fhandler.cc, and syscalls.cc.

I think that Cygwin32 will have to address this if they expect secure
applications to be ported to their environment.
