I tried doing 
gcc -o hello.exe hello.o 

and it said 

C:\gnuwin32\b18\H-i386-cygwin32\bin>gcc -o hello.exe hello.o
GCC.EXE: installation problem, cannot exec `ld': No such file or directory

any ideas now?

Also, gcc  C and g++  C++?
