Here's a hint if you are compiling libslang.a from the slang.tar.gz
distribution:  After ./configure has done its work, go through the the
slang code with grep, changing `#ifdef pc_system' to `#if 1', except where
pc_system eliminates routines that are used by the Unix version of
libslang.a.

This doesn't lead to a perfect result, but it is an improvement over
simply compiling libslang.a out of the box.
